Amazon is launching a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide broadband connectivity. The Processing Lead will oversee a team of technicians, ensuring quality and safety standards while integrating and testing satellite hardware for launch.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of technicians as the subject matter expert on all processes within your area of responsibility on second shift
Champion safety requirements in all designated zones and work locations
Successfully lead process work and review for quality and adherence to standards and procedures
Independently execute and prioritize work to meet production schedules
Integration and test of the Leo satellite and various complex subassemblies in a cleanroom and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controlled environment
Rigging and critical lifts of bulky, sensitive flight hardware
Able to obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, and/or certifications as required
Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, multimeters, optical inspection devices, micrometers, and dial calipers
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
Run functional and environmental testing on units, including some basic troubleshooting operations
Use computer software programs for controlling tests
Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment
This is a 2nd shift position but shift schedule may vary, depending on production/launch schedules
Must be willing and able to perform extended travel up to 25% annually, either domestically or internationally as business needs demand

Required

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
3+ years experience in the aerospace industry or other high-reliability operating environment
3+ years as a supervisor, lead technician, or other role requiring leading team of technicians
2+ years experience with crane operations (crane certified) and using heavy machinery (forklifts, tuggers, pallet jacks)
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Experience in a fast-paced processing environment
Experience working with Foreign Object Debris (FOD), ESD sensitive hardware, and clean room requirements
A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments
Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
Able to obtain and maintain a US Passport and must meet customs entry requirements to include but not limited to: Yellow Fever vaccine and other immunization requirements as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Able to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks

Preferred

Experience leading and managing a team
Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating procedures
Experience working with electrically energized systems
Experience in a fast-paced processing environment
Experience working with Foreign Object Debris (FOD), ESD sensitive hardware, and in a clean room
Experience with forklifts, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment (including previous certifications)
Able to stand/walk for long periods of time
Able to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
Able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted
