Responsibilities

Machinist I, and II team members to include hiring support, training, coaching, disciplinary action, recommending review information on performance and suggest termination rational
Train new set-up operators as needed
Understand and edit any machine’s program using the CNC programming language
Demonstrate programming skills on the machine and support training for other staff
Possess ownership of the machine’s production, offering leadership as needed and being the responsible party for all quality related to the assigned machines and team members
Troubleshoot complex problems faced by the machinist team
Work will all members of leadership and Quality to improve processes and fixture ideas
Operate precision machinery as needed to support output expectations
Set up the machines as directed by the blueprint
Review screen pages and machine operation to detect minor programming issues
Review and determine tool wear for maximum performance of the machines
Consistently meet output expectations and efficiency requirements
Work with supervisor to recommend process improvements to resolve manufacturing issues or to help improve cycle time
Receive process traveler and verify revisions match on all paperwork
Receive material and load bar feeder or fixture, as necessary
Checks parts for accuracy according to inspection plan and part specifications
Verity the correct program is running on the machine and revision matches traveler
Stop machine to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications under precision
Red tag units that are out of specification (OOS) and submit to Quality Manager
Observe line clearance procedures
Ensure work area, machine, tooling, and parts are cleaned regularly and free from excess oil
Maintain quality and acceptable production outputs
Perform daily and routine preventive maintenance on assigned machine based on established standards
Offset the machine to the blueprint for part conformance as needed
Replace tooling at the machine when required
Attend all assigned meetings
Follow all company policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Three- Five years of machinist experience required, preferably within a medical device company
Exposure to ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820 as it relates to the job
Time management, prioritization and organizational skills
Knowledge of testing equipment, statistical methods and control plans
Organizational and problem-solving skills
High School or equivalent
General knowledge of precision measuring instruments. The instruments should include, but not limited to calipers, ID/OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators and plug and tread Go/No gauges
Ability to read Blueprints
Required knowledge of basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and algebra
Skilled in adapting to a changing work environment, competing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
Skilled in setting priorities that move projects through efficiently- achieving customer and quality objectives
Skilled in working independently, following through with assignments with minimal direction
Reasoning skills including but not limited to comparing, classifying, analyzing and coordinating- while minimizing duplication
High school diploma or equivalent
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand or walk; use hands, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at a time
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines and inspect parts produced
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting or uncomfortable
Includes exposure to moving mechanical parts
Work environment is temperature controlled
Tinted Safety glasses on the manufacturing floor, excluding the Quality Lab
