Workers' Compensation Underwriter
Health In Tech is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Underwriter specializing in Captives and Reinsurance. The role involves evaluating and assessing workers' compensation risks, managing captive programs, and fostering relationships with brokers and reinsurers to ensure profitable growth and exceptional service.
Responsibilities
Evaluate, select, and price new and renewal workers' compensation policies for captive programs, ensuring profitability and adherence to company guidelines and state regulations
Manage and report on the performance of assigned captive programs for growth and profitability
Conduct thorough risk analysis, including actuarial and collateral analysis, for complex accounts
Secure appropriate reinsurance coverage to mitigate the risks retained by the captives, working effectively with reinsurers and ensuring optimal terms and pricing
Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, captive managers, reinsurers, and other stakeholders, providing exceptional service and fostering productive partnerships
Provide guidance and training to junior underwriters and other team members, fostering their professional development and contributing to a strong underwriting team
Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities, providing insights and recommendations for product development and competitive strategies
Ensure all underwriting activities comply with industry regulations and company policies
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all underwriting decisions and communications
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in risk management or related field, and/or a minimum of 5-7 years of workers' compensation underwriting experience, preferably with a focus on captives and reinsurance
Advanced understanding and technical knowledge of captive underwriting mechanics and fundamentals
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and other relevant software programs
Preferred
Professional designations such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or associate in risk management (ARM) are highly desirable
