Employee Relations Investigator
ISS Facility Services - North America is seeking an Employee Relations Investigator responsible for conducting thorough investigations into employee relations concerns. This role involves partnering with HR, Legal, Compliance, and business leaders to ensure investigations are handled consistently and in alignment with company policies.
Responsibilities
Conduct end-to-end workplace investigations, including intake, planning, interviews, evidence collection, analysis, findings, and recommendations
Investigate complex and sensitive matters such as harassment, discrimination, retaliation, ethics violations, and code-of-conduct concerns
Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses using legally sound interviewing techniques
Review and analyze documentation, electronic data, policies, and other relevant evidence
Prepare clear, objective, and well-documented investigative reports that summarize facts, credibility assessments, findings, and conclusions
Partner with HR Business Partners, Legal, Compliance, and management to determine appropriate corrective actions and risk mitigation
Provide guidance to leaders on employee relations issues, investigation outcomes, and best practices
Ensure investigations are completed timely and in compliance with internal standards and external legal requirements
Maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and professionalism throughout the investigation process
Track cases and maintain accurate investigation records and metrics
Identify trends and systemic issues; recommend policy, training, or process improvements
Support audits, litigation holds, and regulatory inquiries as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Legal Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of experience in employee relations, HR investigations, compliance, or a related field
Demonstrated experience conducting complex workplace investigations
Strong knowledge of employment laws (e.g., harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, FMLA/ADA basics)
Excellent interviewing, analytical, and report-writing skills
Ability to handle highly sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment
Preferred
HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR)
Formal investigation training or certification
Experience with Unionized Environments
Experience partnering with Legal or working in regulated or multi-state environments
Experience managing high case volumes and competing priorities
Fluent in Spanish
