Clinical Research Assistant

Brown University Health is seeking a full-time clinical research assistant for the Anesthesiology Department at Rhode Island Hospital. The role involves assisting in the acquisition and analysis of patient information for multiple clinical research projects, including participant recruitment, data management, and maintaining IRB protocols.

Responsibilities

Provides assistance on clinical research studies as per study guidelines and protocols
Recruitment for research studies and clinical trials; assists research physician in identification and follow up of patients meeting criteria for inclusion in clinical research studies; ensures protocol eligibility requirements are met
Interact with patients/subjects with regard to study, including facilitating in obtaining informed consent, patient education, procedural instruction, follow-up
Responsible for collecting data and maintaining patient information database for study. May be required to input data, do minimum analysis, and run various reports. Maintains patients records as part of record keeping function. May review medical records to abstract information necessary to complete forms
Monitors and sets up any needed equipment in an operating room setting
Performs literature searches and may present data at study meetings
All other duties, as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, or relevant field
Prior research experience
Familiarity with data management software (e.g., Excel, RedCap)
Organizational skills to organize and prioritize own efforts on multiple projects and to gather research information, format appropriately for computer data entry, prepare and maintain records and reports, etc
Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and Hospital professionals to gather and exchange information
Technical ability to operate and maintain computer system
Ability to work a flexible schedule including some early evenings

Preferred

Experience or desire to work with technology in an operating room setting
