Fiber Optic Field Engineer I/Project Coordinator
Prism Maritime LLC is a premier maritime service provider for Alteration Installation Team (AIT) and Modernization related Services in support of US Maritime and Shore-based clients. The Fiber Optic Field Engineer I/Project Coordinator will lead fiber optic installation tasks, develop technical manuals, and provide expertise on installation and production while solving complex problems in the field.

Responsibilities
The Fiber Optic Field Engineer must be able to perform as a Task Leader on any fiber optic installation task
Assists in the development of Installation Design Packages, technical manuals and specifications for systems and equipment
Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved by referencing manufacturers manuals or similar documents
Identifies, analyzes, reports on, and corrects causes of equipment and systems failures
Identifies problem areas and provides Condition Discrepancy Reports, Change Order Request Notices, and/or Liaison Action Request preparation
Demonstrate advanced installation knowledge of the M28876 line of connector products from all of the main industry manufacturers including four, eighteen and 31 channel connectors, 12 channel hermaphroditic connectors, Deutsch MC3/MK-II and M38999 connectors and back shells
Conducts research and development experiments for new or updated installation processes, procedures, and test equipment
Performs engineering, quality, and safety audit / inspections
Provides technical expertise and support on installation and production
Aids the Project Manager with fiber optic task estimation and technical support when required
Provides project status reports including EVM metrics
Provides final task status for Task Order Closeout reports
Conducts briefings and presentations
Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives, and goals
Travel outside the local areas is routinely required but not guaranteed
Overtime, including weekends, is routinely required but not guaranteed
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 4 years' experience in team management, supervisory, and leadership positions
Must be certified in all NAVSEA Fiber Optic Modules
Must have successfully completed the Blown Optical Fiber (BOF) Installer's License program
Must possess a valid OSHA 10 Maritime Card
High School Diploma or GED equivalent may be required depending on varying contract stipulations
Associates degree in applicable field and four (4) years or bachelor's degree and one (1) years' experience relative to the industry, or eight (8) years directly related experience
Degree should be in Engineering, Management, or a technically relatable field
Non-degreed personnel must have a minimum of two (2) years' participation in an approved electronic/electrical apprenticeship program, graduate of a Class A, B or C Military Technical School or civilian trade School or, eight (8) years' technical experience in installation modification, field change, operation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of fiber optic or electronic systems in accordance with NAVSEA Standard procedures
Clearance up to secret level may be required
U.S. Citizenship required
Ability to visit any shipboard location where Prism work-scope is performed, including 010-level compartments, masts platforms, and controlled access areas
Periodically required to lift/move equipment or materials up to and including 50 pounds
Our work is primarily onboard naval vessels that may include variables of physical activity, e.g., stooping, climbing, walking, etc
