Responsibilities

Ensuring that all eligibility screenings meet key grant and funding criteria to protect financial sustainability and program effectiveness
Conducting thorough and efficient insurance verification for patient access to behavioral health, dental, and medical services
Update patient insurance and payor information in required systems, including Epic to ensure accuracy and completeness
Identify and communicate discrepancies in coverage and assist patients in resolving them
Collaborate with the social services team to complete grant eligibility requirements, when needed
Maintain clear and professional communication with patients, providers and insurance companies
Provide patients with information regarding their insurance coverage
Collaborate with other departments to address insurance-related inquiries or issues
Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community
Demonstrate exemplary customer service and interpersonal communication skills; must have the ability to work with diverse people groups
Other duties as assigned
Adhere to all agency policies, including Confidentiality, Employee Handbook, Health Care Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, and other relevant policies

Required

GED or HS Diploma
Minimum of two years of experience in insurance verification, financial benefits screening, or a related experience
Proficiency in using EHR systems (e.g. Epic), Microsoft Office Suites, and other related software
Strong knowledge of insurance plans, policies, and prior authorization requirements
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information to patients and staff
Valid and current state driver's license and an insurable driving record
Access to an insurable and reliable vehicle

Preferred

Demonstrate commitment to providing exceptional customer service to patients and other stakeholders
Must be highly flexible; able to accommodate changing needs of the department
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
Professional appearance and demeanor
Experience with grant program eligibility screening
Epic experience is strongly preferred
