Structural Engineer
GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a motivated & experienced Structural Engineer / Project Manager for their Huntington Station office. The role involves managing and executing structural engineering projects, including design, analysis, and condition surveys of various structures.
Civil Engineering
Responsibilities
Manage and execute projects
Prepare proposals and develop project plans, schedules, and budgets
Collaborate with technical staff across the company
Train and mentor staff
Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and third-party vendors
Perform a wide range of structural engineering analysis and design tasks for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures
Perform structural condition surveys, including non-destructive testing to document existing conditions and identify the type, cause, and extent of structural issues or deterioration
Prepare condition survey reports and perform structural evaluation of existing structures
Prepare drawings and specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents for both new construction and the repair of existing structures
Provide construction administration engineering services. Perform site visits and document the progress of work and compliance with the design intent
Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel
Qualification
Required
M.S. in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering. Structural course work is required
7 to 12 or more years of experience in structural design and structural investigations
Familiarity with NYC/NYS Building Codes
P.E. license in NYS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to travel to job locations as needed. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license
Ability to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required
Preferred
Active involvement in professional organizations
Published and presented technical articles
