10+ years expWSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Technical Manager for our Portland office. The role involves leading projects with the Advisory Services, Demand Modeling and Forecasting team, applying data science principles to support various industries. The position includes responsibilities such as designing travel demand models, mentoring staff, and analyzing transportation data.
Responsibilities
Design, estimate, validate and apply travel demand models
Lead and collaborate on the development of demand modeling and related software
Analyze land use and demand data
Conduct statistical analyses of travel survey and passively-collected transportation data
Mentor, train and provide technical guidance to staff
Lead demand modeling tasks as part of multidisciplinary teams
Lead data analysis for grant applications and demand modeling and planning projects
Participate in business and professional development activities
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree or Higher in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Data Science, Urban Planning, Economics, Geography or related field
10 years' proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and projects
10 years of experience designing, estimating and/or implementing travel demand models
Ability to deliver model results in written or oral format to clients and peer review panels
Excellent Python programming and code management skills
Demonstrated expertise with travel data analysis and visualization
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred
Experience with Grant and/or Proposal Writing
Experience leading travel demand modeling and/or software engineering teams
Proficiency with demand modeling software (TransCAD, CUBE, EMME, and/or VISUM)
Proficiency with R scripting, Java, C#, or similar programming languages
Proficiency with Geographical Information Software use and programming
