Compliance Specialist
Community Investment Management Services is focused on ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The Compliance Specialist supports the organization by managing compliance with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and providing ongoing support for tax credit properties.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with company policies, fair housing laws, and LIHTC Section 42 rules
Review and process applications, verifying completeness and eligibility
Aid in preparing for audits or inspections either internally or onsite, when needed
Track, review, prepare and implement Utility Allowances
Conduct LIHTC file reviews and prepare required reporting for state housing agencies, or city, county, and other agencies
Prepare and update Rent Schedules with income, rent and utility allowances
Work closely with properties and managers in training and other areas in times of need
Monitor state agency websites to ensure we are using the most up-to-date forms and policies
Stay current with handbook updates, code changes, and other regulations impacting affordable housing compliance
Demonstrate expertise in Section 42, LIHTC regulations, HOME program, and HUD Handbook 4350.3 as they relate to resident file compliance and unit qualification
Maintain a professional, positive demeanor, manage time effectively, and foster a collaborative team environment
Adhere to all company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Complete all annual training requirements and demonstrate professional behavior consistent with company standards
Qualification
Required

Preferred
Experience in the Affordable Housing industry, preferably active Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) certification
Strong knowledge of LIHTC, HUD, TRACS, and EIV
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Knowledge in tax credit, finance layering including RD, correcting non-compliance, and 8823s
Strong organizational, customer service, project management, research, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
