Recreation Events and Programs Summer Intern

The Town of Frisco is seeking a Recreation Events and Programs Summer Intern to assist in planning and executing youth programs and special events. This seasonal position will involve working closely with the Recreation Programs Manager and Supervisor to create a fun and safe environment for children attending the programs.

Responsibilities

Plans, prepares and participates in recreation programs and special events
Assists with the planning, set-up, execution and tear down of special events
Responsible for the well-being, safety and care of children and youth attending Recreation and Culture Department programs
Responsible for creating a fun and energetic environment for the campers on a daily basis
Work in a team-based environment supporting the Recreation and Culture Department, the Town of Frisco, the initiatives of the Director and Manager, and other counselors
Interact with guests, parents, and participants in a positive and professional manner, utilizing excellent guest service standards
Maintain professional attitudes and relationships with parents, participants, and co-workers
Adhere to Town of Frisco and camp rules and regulations including proper attire, safety procedures, and overall professionalism
Participate in safety training and respond to emergencies in an appropriate manner
Performs other duties as assigned
Adheres to Town of Frisco policies, competencies, standards, and regulations including but not limited to proper attire, safety procedures, and overall professionalism
Ability to function and make good decisions in the absence of a supervisor
Communicates with Town of Frisco employees, citizens, customers and vendors in a professional, courteous and timely manner both verbally and in writing
Performs other job duties/responsibilities as assigned by management
Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job

Required

Be currently enrolled, or a recent graduate of a university or junior college pursuing or having completed a degree in Parks & Recreation, Youth Programming, Sports Management or similar field
Microsoft Excel, Publisher, Word and Outlook experience
Community CPR and First Aid, and PDT is required within the first 60 days of hire
1 year previous experience working with youth ages 5-12
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to function independently and make sound and reasonable decisions in the absence of supervisory guidance
Must be 21 years old+
Previous experience working with youth ages 5-12
Special Event Management experience
