Magna Engineered Glass: Quality Technician
Magna International is a global leader in automotive technologies, and they are seeking a Quality Technician for their Engineered Glass division. This role is responsible for ensuring product and process compliance with internal quality systems and customer requirements, supporting quality assurance activities across manufacturing operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
Perform product testing and inspection using defined testing methods, fixtures, and measurement systems to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and customer specifications
Audit products, processes, and documentation to verify conformance with IATF 16949 requirements, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality systems
Utilize and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to monitor process performance, identify trends, and initiate containment or corrective actions as required
Initiates production stops or escalates quality concerns in accordance with established procedures when nonconforming product or process conditions are identified
Lead and/or support in-house and on-site customer product sorts, re-inspections, and containment activities to address quality concerns; train production operators on off-line inspection and containment activities as needed. (Role may require lifting up to 50 lbs.)
Issues, maintains and implements activities relating to corrective and/or preventative action. Provides input on causes or reasons for quality problems and recommends process changes if necessary
Investigate internal and customer-reported nonconformances; visually inspect customer returns, determine product disposition, and coordinate containment, rework, or scrap decisions in alignment with quality procedures
Perform measurement system analysis, including fixture reliability and repeatability (R&R), to ensure accuracy and consistency of inspection and test results
Develop, analyze, and execute product testing procedures and inspection methods in accordance with control plans and quality engineering direction
Support product launches and engineering changes by assisting with quality planning activities, inspection setup, validation testing, and early production containment as required
Establish and maintain visual quality standards and inspection criteria in collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams
Initiate and support updates to control plans, inspection plans, IPICS, and control charts based on SPC data, audit findings, or corrective action outcomes
Represent operations quality when communicating with internal teams and external customers regarding quality issues, inspection results, and control limits
Conduct internal quality system and process audits in support of company, customer, and IATF 16949 requirements
Compile, analyze, and summarize quality data and metrics for reporting purposes, including monthly or customer-required quality reports
Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements
Perform all duties in compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations; promptly report unsafe conditions, hazards, or workplace injuries
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals
Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and priorities
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality role, preferably within an automotive (IATF 16949) environment
Working knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements and customer-specific requirements (CSR)
Experience with product inspection, testing methods, and use of basic measurement tools; ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
Working knowledge of SPC, data analysis, and structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, MDCAR)
Experience supporting corrective and preventive actions, audits, and containment activities
Ability to work cross-functionally with Manufacturing and Engineering and communicate quality issues internally and with customers as needed
Ability to work in a shop-floor environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs
Commitment to safety and compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements
Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments
English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
Associate's degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related field
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
