YMCA Camp Silver Creek - Infirmary Director 2026

Family YMCA of Marion and Polk Counties is dedicated to strengthening communities through its mission and core values. The Infirmary Director will be responsible for managing all medical, health, and safety matters at Camp Silver Creek, supporting volunteer nurses, and ensuring that health records are maintained accurately.

Health Wellness & Fitness

Responsibilities

Respond quickly and effectively to all medical emergencies
Train volunteer nurses on the camp’s medical software - ePact
Assist the camp nurse distributing medications throughout the day
Manage and maintain accurate medical logs and health records
Communicate with families as needed regarding medical incidents
Serve as the on-call contact for emergency medical transport when necessary
Act as the nurse in the absence of a designated nurse
Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Operations and Camp Director to review all the health forms and ensure counselors are aware of any camper health concerns or needs
Support staff in properly completing incident reports
Maintain confidentiality and uphold privacy standards for both campers and staff
Oversee infirmary inventory, identifying and ordering necessary supplies
Monitor the infirmary to ensure all equipment, procedures, and operations meet ACA Accreditation standards, health department regulations, and state requirements
Ensure all nurses adhere to ACA safety protocols, health department guidelines, and established camp safety regulations
Participates in required mid-season leadership planning and training sessions to support program quality, staff alignment, and end-of-season readiness

Required

At least 18 years of age
Proven experience in a health care setting: possible examples would be Wilderness First Aid Certification, EMT experience, or partial/full completion of a degree in the medical field
Knowledge of First Aid and Healthcare procedures
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies and health-related concerns
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills to maintain medical logs, health records, and incident reports in compliance with ACA, YMCA, state health regulations, and health department requirements
Experience in medication distribution and oversight in a camp or healthcare setting
Ability to train and support direct reports in camp health protocols
Strong communication skills to interact professionally with campers, staff, and families regarding health matters
Understanding of confidentiality and privacy laws related to camper and staff medical information
Experience in developing and enforcing health and safety protocols, including ACA and state health regulations
Must be CPR and First Aid certified
Current Oregon Food Handler Certification, or ability to obtain certification
Must be available during all of the following dates: June 7 - June 13 (Program Staff Retreat), June 14 - June 20 (Mandatory All-Staff Training), June 21 - August 23 (Camp Season & Move-Out)
Must be physically capable of observing and listening for stressful situations at all times
Must be physically capable of lifting 40 pounds
Must be able to quickly assess and respond to medical situations
Must demonstrate strong decision-making skills and remain calm under pressure in high-stress situations
Capable of effective and appropriate mental, emotional and social responses in a constantly changing, youth centered environment
All candidates must have reliable transportation
Job offers are contingent upon completion of a rigorous criminal history background check

Preferred

Supervisory experience, especially leading peers, is preferred
