Field Applications Engineer: Flight Controls | Aeronautical industry

The Systems Integration Engineer will be responsible for the integration, validation, and tuning of mission-critical avionics systems, ensuring performance and safety throughout the integration lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Integrate and configure Flight Controls, Avionics Systems, and Peripherals to form complete operational platforms
Model unmanned vehicles (UAVs, RPAS, UGVs) and support system-level validation
Perform HIL simulations and support system verification activities
Define flight planning and Systems Integration procedures
Conduct functional tests and flight tests
Tune control gains and flight parameters
Diagnose and resolve complex engineering, aerodynamic, electronic, and system-level issues
Provide technical support to customers across the U.S. (remote and on-site)
Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams in a safety-critical environment

Required

Experience working with MATLAB / Simulink
Solid aeronautical engineering background
Knowledge of control algorithms (PID controllers, system dynamics)
Willingness to travel within the U.S
Hands-on, problem-solving mindset in complex technical environments

Preferred

Experience with UAVs, RPAS, UGVs, or radio-controlled systems
Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN bus, serial interfaces, etc.)
Experience with X-Plane or similar simulation environments
Strong communication skills and customer-facing experience
