Hardware Functional Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

Performing safety concept exploration and scope evaluation
Refining the Safety Concept
Performing the High level safety analysis (FMEA/FMEDA/FTA DFA, FFI) using the Safety Analysis tools at architectural/concept level
Defining HW and SW safety requirements
Performing the verification planning (including safety verification plan to verify safety metrics, pre-silicon and post silicon)
Defining and maintaining the Safety Manual
Be responsible for assessing and determining product line compliance to the ISO/IEC metrics
Direct re-use of safety cases and re-use of designs through advice, metrics reporting, and timely escalation in order to achieve the required standards of leadership in safety and cost
Recognize when and how to address critical system safety topics with customers and represent the business in forums
Participate in evaluations of proposed technical solutions (in decided architecture) with the purpose to judge the possibility of developing and calibrating a SW solution
Participate as a representative of the AMD FuSa team within system teams (for example when performing Hazard Analysis, FMEA, FTA, etc)

Required

Extensive project leadership skills
Thorough understanding of system safety standards within the automotive and industrial markets
Strong systems thinking with hands-on safety analysis
Ability to guide cross-functional teams to achieve credible, audit-ready compliance for complex SoCs used in automotive and industrial markets
Ability to communicate clearly and challenge assumptions respectfully
Ability to drive alignment on safety decisions
Ability to dig into the root cause of issues and close gaps with rigor
Ability to produce hardware safety artifacts that stand up to internal reviews and external audits

Preferred

Experience with SOC design and microprocessor architecture
Experience with the ISO26262 standard
Experience with software development
Extensive knowledge of system safety and monitoring methods
Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering
