Assistant Lifestyle Video Editor

Dotdash Meredith is America’s largest digital and print publisher, and they are seeking a Freelance Assistant Lifestyle Video Editor to support the creation of dynamic social video content. The role involves working with raw lifestyle and culinary footage to produce videos optimized for various social media platforms.

Responsibilities

Support editors and producers in creating short-form social videos from raw footage
Assist with capturing and organizing media, labeling footage, syncing audio, and preparing projects for edit
Help assemble rough cuts, selects, and basic edits under editorial direction
Add on-screen text, captions, simple graphics, and sound elements as needed
Prepare videos for delivery across multiple social platforms and aspect ratios
Ensure content follows brand guidelines and editorial standards
Work on-site in our Birmingham, Alabama production studios, collaborating closely with producers and editors

Qualification

Adobe Premiere ProVideo editing experienceSocial media video formatsOrganizational skillsAttention to detailCollaborative workTake feedback

Required

0–2 years of experience in video editing, post-production, or related coursework/internships
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro required
Familiarity with social media video formats (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, etc.)
A portfolio or reel showing any short-form, school, personal, or social video work
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn
Ability to take feedback, manage deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

Interest in food, lifestyle, or creator-led content; culinary knowledge is a bonus, not required
