Responsibilities
Coordinates daily function of the pacemaker or defibrillator clinic(s)
Performs device checks on patients, either in the office or trans-telephonically as indicated
Reprograms devices as directed by attending / implanting physician to achieve optimal pacemaker performance
Educates patients and provides follow-up reminders on further device checks that follow established device industry and medical community protocols for each device
Collaborates as needed with physicians and other appropriate providers regarding the device function and status as it is related to the patient's total treatment plan
Applies temporary external monitoring (i.e. Holter and Event) as prescribed by cardiologist or electrophysiologist for diagnostic testing of cardiac rhythms
Coordinates the return and performs the interpretation of the monitors
Provides attending / implanting cardiologist or electrophysiologist with full diagnostic reports from temporary external monitoring and device checks to allow for adequate provider follow-up and/or adjustment
Maintains necessary records and documentation on patient's device
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Post high-school education up to 18 months
Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Device School
No experience required
Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database)
Data entry skills
Preferred
International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) certification preferred
