Tissue Recovery Technician I

Southwest Transplant Alliance is dedicated to tissue recovery for transplantation. The Tissue Recovery Technician I role involves performing tissue recovery, leading a recovery team, and ensuring safe human grafts for transplantation through aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

Responds promptly and reports to tissue donor cases, once assigned and as directed by the recovery team leader
Performs duties as assigned from the recovery team lead during each case in compliance with STA’s policies and procedures
Performs the recovery of tissue, circulates, and assists the team as needed during the case
Performs duties as assigned in compliance with STA’s policies and procedures, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. Assists in preparing surgical site and donor for recovering and performing post-donation activities, as appropriate
Performs quality control practices as defined by standard operating procedures
Displays respect for the donor and donor family at all times, maintains donor confidentiality and communicates clearly to other agencies and departments as needed
Attends departmental meetings and completes required training to ensure compliance and keeps abreast of industry, organizational, and departmental changes
Maintains confidentiality of donor information in accordance with STA policies
Verifies the authorization and Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI), ensuring compliance with AATB and Processor requirements
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Associates degree in a life science
Knowledge of aseptic technique, Human Anatomy and Physiology; disease processes, surgical instrumentation and maintenance
Excellent oral, written, and documentation skills
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly
Self-motivated and possess the ability to meet the requirements of a demanding call schedule required
Ability to meet assigned deadlines
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required
Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload
Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment
Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities
Current Driver's license required

Preferred

Certification in surgical technology/medical/paramedical professional is preferred to perform all technical functions of the position / equivalent work-related experience
