Grant Writer – Capital Projects and School-Based Grants Specialist
Benton Harbor Area Schools is seeking a Grant Writer – Capital Projects and School-Based Grants Specialist who will lead efforts to secure funding for capital improvements and school-based initiatives. Responsibilities
Research and identify funding opportunities that support capital projects and school-based initiatives
Write and submit clear, persuasive, and well-organized grant proposals
Collaborate with district leaders to develop project scopes, narratives, and budgets
Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and ensure timely submissions
Coordinate documentation and data collection for proposals and compliance
Prepare and submit required progress and final reports
Track outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of grant-funded projects
Cultivate relationships with funders and stakeholders
Attend conferences and networking events to identify opportunities
Provide training and guidance to staff on grant writing best practices
Work with the Superintendent and Facilities Director on implementation of the District Building Master Plan
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, or related field or equivalent experience
Five (5) or more years of successful grant writing experience
Demonstrated record of securing competitive funding
Knowledge of grant processes and compliance requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Master's degree preferred
Experience in a K–12 school district or nonprofit organization
Familiarity with facilities or construction projects
Knowledge of federal, state, and local education funding sources
