Responsibilities
Utilizes the Cost Accounting System [EPSi] to obtain Profit & Loss, Contribution Margin, Payor Rates, Trending and opportunities. This relates to both Inpatient and Outpatient population
Assists with special projects as needed
Incorporate new technologies, systems and processes to improve the daily financial operations of the Brooklyn Hospital Mission Department
Provides the Brooklyn Hospital Operations group with financial analyses revolving around patient volume and revenue
Utilizing the general ledger system (PeopleSoft) to provide budgetary and actual information using trends and projections
Investigate causes of variance with respective departments in order to identify operational and financial opportunities
Provides a monthly budget performance report which includes analyzing differences between budget and actual performance for both revenue and expenses
Assists in annual and monthly operating budget planning regarding to volume, revenue, and expenses
Work with Clinical Departments to create staffing models as well as analyses related to patient volume
Qualification
Required
Bachelors degree with a major in a business subject (e.g. accounting, finance, economics)
3-5 years of related experience
excellent oral and written communication skills
analytical skills
problem solving skills
comprehensive knowledge of all applications within Microsoft Office; specifically with Excel
knowledge of vlookups, pivot tables, sub-totals, and other Excel functions
Preferred
Master's Degree
Proficient in utilizing Tableau or similar tool
Experience with a not-for-profit, healthcare institution
cost or general accounting background
