The Controller will lead financial operations, reporting, compliance, and internal controls, ensuring accurate accounting across the organization while advancing into the Financial Controller role.

Responsibilities
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Transition into managing all day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, payroll, general ledger)
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
Support budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning
Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Oversee job cost reports and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules
Partner with Project Managers to ensure accurate billing and collections
Strengthen internal controls and standardize accounting procedures
Prepare and review tax filings; ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Support internal and external audits
Train, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff
Participate in software conversions and system upgrades (Sage Intacct, Foundation)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5 or more years of accounting experience, ideally in construction
Knowledge of GAAP, job cost accounting, and financial reporting
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office
High attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred
CPA certification preferred
Experience with Foundation Software preferred
System conversion or implementation experience
Experience with construction subcontractor accounting
Experience/knowledge with handling Prevailing Wage Projects
