Akkodis is seeking a Java Developer (Advanced Java + AWS) for a Contract job with a client in McLean, VA. The ideal candidate will have Java development experience with deep AWS expertise and hands-on cloud-native design and deployment skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy cloud‑native Java applications using AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, ECS, EKS, and Fargate
Build and maintain serverless architectures leveraging AWS Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using AWS API Gateway and Lambda-backed services
Create, optimize, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy
Implement automated testing frameworks within AWS DevOps workflows to improve quality and reduce regression time
Monitor, log, and troubleshoot applications using CloudWatch, X-Ray, and other AWS observability tools
Design scalable, secure cloud infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation, IAM, KMS, EBS snapshots, S3 replication, and disaster recovery strategies

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
8–10 years of hands-on Java development experience with strong understanding of Advanced Java concepts and cloud‑native application patterns
Strong experience with AWS services, including Lambda, EC2, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, CloudFormation, CloudTrail, and CodePipeline
Proficiency in CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and distributed application development
Experience with microservices, serverless computing, and cloud optimization patterns
Solid understanding of DevOps practices, including logging, monitoring, and cloud performance tuning
Strong communication, problem‑solving, and collaborative team skills
