Benefits Administrator

Responsibilities

Administer group benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, life, accident, disability, voluntary benefits, and retirement plans (401(k))
Act as the primary contact for employees and vendors regarding benefit plan coverage, eligibility, enrollment, and claim issues
Facilitate benefits enrollment and changes during new hire onboarding, life events, and annual open enrollment periods
Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate deduction processing and benefits-related payroll changes
Maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits records in HRIS and benefits administration systems
Assist with compliance activities including nondiscrimination testing, ACA reporting, ERISA requirements, and required notices (e.g., COBRA, HIPAA, SPD)
Review and reconcile monthly carrier invoices; investigate and resolve discrepancies
Participate in benefits benchmarking, plan design review, and renewal processes in collaboration with brokers or consultants
Support wellness programs, benefits communications, and employee education efforts to promote understanding and engagement
Help ensure all benefit offerings are in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations

Required

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Minimum 4-6 years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR role
Strong understanding of benefits compliance (ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA)
Familiarity with benefit plans including PPOs, EPOs, HSAs, FSAs, and retirement accounts
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and HRIS or benefits platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Preferred

Experience with benefits platforms or third-party administrators (Workday, Benefitfocus, Aptia, Guardian)
HR or benefits-related certification (e.g., CEBS, SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus
