Process Engineering Lead

Responsibilities
Ensure the deliverables developed by process engineering function (designs, specifications, calculations, etc.) fully comply with relevant business standards, engineering codes, regulatory requirements, and project-specific expectations (including Project Design Basis). This includes overseeing the quality and accuracy of all engineering work performed by the process engineering function
Possesses a strong understanding of relevant engineering principles, standards, and regulations to provide guidance to the function
Ensures process and procedures are in place to drive the development of complete engineering deliverables aligning with INEOS specifications, engineering codes, regulatory requirements, and project-specific expectations
Leads the process engineering function to prioritize the accuracy, reliability and integrity of all process engineering deliverables while adhering to project schedules and budgets
Reviews engineering quality metrics and understands Key performance indicators and anticipate potential quality issues. Makes recommendations for appropriate changes to processes and procedures to address deficiencies
Champions compliance with SHE including applicable audits, corrective action tracking and incident investigation as applicable. Ensures process safety is incorporated at the initial stage of project design
Supports the broader capital engineering function in driving project progression from feasibility study through engineering, construction, commissioning/start-up and document close out in the electronic document management system along with SAP uploads for asset management
Ensures process engineering function is supporting operational readiness and eventual asset ownership by operations. This includes commissioning sequencing/planning & integration into construction schedules, timely handover of engineering deliverables, training & SOP development support, approval of document to be uploaded in the electronic document management systems, and maintenance management system population (e.g., SAP)
Work with Technical authority community to introduce new technology to the business
Works with Technology Managers and commercial group to develop high level conceptual studies/designs (FEL 0) that informs the Long-Range Plans (LRP) based on site identified risks, commercial opportunities, and asset health management
Supports and/or leads the process engineering effort evaluating technical options and feasibility in FEL 0
Challenges the process engineering function to consider/evaluate out-of-the-box solutions
Clearly and concisely presents information/ideas up or down in the organization
Ensures process engineering function is supporting estimate validation as applicable
Encourages the process engineering function to develop and evaluate options which may include non-capital solutions
Inspires/motivates the process engineering function to achieve S.M.A.R.T goals, oversees workload, drives prioritization, and successful delivery of deliverables
Focuses on the growth and skill enhancement of the process engineering function through training, lessons learned reviews, and continuing education opportunities
Understands the short- and long-term talent needs of the process engineering function and plans accordingly
Encourages a team environment to deliver engineering initiatives or deliverables (minimizes/eliminates siloed approaches to problem solving)
Promotes a culture of innovation, out of the box thinking and continuous learning within the capital engineering function
Collaborate with the other engineering leads and project managers to identify resources and build project teams across sites
Supports the development, implementation and maintenance of engineering management policies, systems, procedures, and standards relevant to the process engineering function. This includes ensuring that these are effectively communicated and followed by the process engineering function, and providing input for updates based on changes in regulations, industry best practices, and INEOS Group requirements
Understands the importance of standardized processes and drives the process engineering function to deliver consistent outcomes and deliverables
Ensures rigor is incorporated in technical reviews, interdisciplinary checks, and quality assurance audits from a process engineering perspective
Effectively communicates and promotes adherence to established policies and procedures
Continuously seeks opportunities to enhance existing processes and standards
Works with other functional managers (inside and outside of the capital organization) to ensure alignment with business objectives/goals and engineering and design parameters (basis of design)
Remains current on changes in regulations and industry best practices incorporating applicable learnings as needed
Leads the process engineering function in supporting the business technical authorities in engineering standard reviews, updates, and/or development
Encourages process engineering function to interface with asset team counterparts to ensure alignment on the design of projects
Encourages the process engineering function to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to set and achieve common goals
Provides guidance to the process engineering function in managing relationships with internal stakeholders and external engineering partners
Builds the credibility and confidence in the process engineering function through consistent delivery of quality deliverables
Takes ownership of process engineering function performance, audit findings, and provides guidance to the process engineering function for improvement
Can interpret audit data results and identify root causes of performance gaps and address accordingly
Develops and implements effective corrective and preventative actions
Demonstrates an initiative-taking approach to enhancing process engineering function performance
Qualification
Required
Undergraduate degree in chemical engineering
>15 years of experience in operations, reliability, maintenance, and/or engineering in a manufacturing environment
>10 years of Project execution experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Infrastructure, or other high hazard industries
>5 years of experience supervising technical professionals and/or operations personnel
Strongly developed interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
Possesses a track record of accomplishment in leading roles by driving accountability
Strong demonstrated ability to manage, progress and deliver multiple and competing priorities
Proven commitment and delivery of SHE compliance
Ability to positively influence others/promote philosophy
Defines personal success in terms of the whole team
Creates strong morale and spirit, feeling of belonging in team, broadly shares both routine and important task

Demonstrated experience in Front End Loading aspects of Capital Project Process
Well versed in industry codes, standards, and requirements (ANSI, API, ASME, NFPA, PIP, OSHA, ISA, etc)
Proficient with Aspen+, Hysis, AFT Fathom, Pipenet, and EPCON Suite or similar software
Working knowledge of process control and instrumentation hardware
Ability to read and understand standard engineering drawings and calculations
Practical understanding of costs (capital, operating, life cycle)
