Specialist, Software Engineer (Annuity Correspondence)

Responsibilities
Build and enhance capabilities that consume required data to generate correspondence outputs
Engineer solutions to deliver correspondence to downstream applications for archiving, printing, or electronic delivery
Support all correspondence types, including: Systematic letters (e.g., systematic withdrawals start/stop, death benefit events, recurring transactions), Confirms (financial transaction confirmations), Contract packages, Quarterly and year‑end statements, Other post-issue and regulatory communications
Implement and maintain OpenRules logic that governs correspondence templates across product, state, and regulatory combinations
Build and optimize Spring Boot services supporting correspondence generation and integrations
Configure and enhance Quadient workflows—system that manages presentation, layout, and orchestration of correspondence components
Partner with Technology Analyst to understand data mapping, business rules, and user stories
Collaborate with Quality Engineers to ensure accurate rule execution, template rendering, and workflow functionality
Participate actively in agile ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and team demos
Contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and psychological safety
Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment
Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities
Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques
Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation
Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively
Qualification
Required
Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree
Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree
Four or more years of analysis and technology experience
Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript
Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle
Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems
Ability to thrive in a team environment
Experience working in agile product teams and a passion for continuous improvement
Experience mentoring engineers and promoting best practices
Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Proven track record of architecting complex systems in large-scale enterprise environments
Strong ability to influence technical direction and drive modernization initiatives
