Responsibilities

Write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences
Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts
Provide technical writing/editing for technical data, ensuring file configuration control, compliance with the RFP and clean final products
Conduct quality review of materials
Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards
Mentor and/or instructs junior writers
Ability to travel up to 10%
Ability to travel OCONUS

Required

Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience; 3 years experience with a Master's Degree; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Must have a current active Secret Clearance at time of application
Experience working with military technical documents related to training development, training delivery, and integrated logistics support ARs, Mil Specifications and Preferences, Technical Bulletins, IETMs, DIDs, etc
5+ years of experience and advanced skills with the Microsoft Office product suite
3+ years of experience and intermediate skills with Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator
Knowledge of industry practices
Able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents
Experience with developing products IAW MIL-STD 40051-1 and 40051-2

Preferred

Experience in file configuration management
Experience in Adobe FrameMaker
Has strong writing, and editing skills, and experience in manipulating grammar
Experienced in querying authors for clarity and compliance purposes and must be skilled in Microsoft Word, MS excel, and PowerPoint
Experience in utilizing the Maintenance Manual change process
Experience writing in XML/S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications/IETM/Data Module writing (Arbortext, EAGLE, XMetal, or similar program)
6+ years working with military technical documents related to training development, training delivery, and integrated logistics support (ARs, Mil Specifications and Preferences, Technical Bulletins, IETMs, DIDs, etc.)
Experience in an electronic/avionic field or in a Department of Defense (DoD) maintenance background
Familiar with developing products IAW MIL-STD 38784B
Experienced with configuration management
Experienced in creating multi-configuration, multi-effectivity indentured parts lists from engineering and LSA data
Ability to identify and possibly work around limited engineering and LSA data
Experienced with Isometric IPB graphics and layout
Experienced with creating and revising IPB's using MIL-DTL-38807 or MIL-PRF-38807
Experience with AGILE, SCRUM, DevOps, etc
