Network Administrator
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to provide advanced networking and telecommunications services. The role involves designing, implementing, and managing complex networking solutions to support the SRNL staff in navigating digital transformation.

Responsibilities
Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices
Identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems
Develop comprehensive network design and implementation plans
Provide technical support to clients and team members
Work on BGP, VXLANs, and spine and leaf networks
Implement security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
Develop Network device deployment automation
Firewall Security Policy Generation and Implementation
Conduct research, cost-benefit and return-on-investment analysis on proposed hardware, software and systems to justify recommendations, support purchasing efforts, and aid management in making infrastructure design and architecture decisions
Qualification
Required
A minimum of 4 years of experience in networking, routing, and switching across enterprise networks
Proven work experience as a Network Architect/Engineer with expertise in multi-site software defined networks
Hands-on experience with both Internet IPv4 and IPv6 routing and switching
Proficiency in BGP, VXLANs, and spine and leaf networks
Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools
Solid understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS/NX-OS preferred)
Solid understanding of advanced security features in next-gen firewalls (e.g. client VPN/S2S VPN deployments, Layer 7-based security policies)
Solid understanding of wireless infrastructure components (e.g. Wireless LAN Controllers, Access Points)
Knowledge of zero-trust network access (ZTNA) principles and implementations (e.g. Cisco Secure Access, Cisco ISE)
Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in providing support to a wide range of network systems and applications
Skilled in designing and implementing granular security policies within multi-vendor firewalls (Palo experience is preferred)
Experience in deploying and managing virtualized firewalls (Palo and/or Azure Firewall is preferred) in hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Proficient in configuring VPN Client Gateways (Palo and/or Cisco is preferred), including always on VPN & split-tunnel design
For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required
Preferred
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
Experience with cloud services (e.g. Azure, AWS)
Experience in Federal Government and/or higher educational environments
A minimum of one professional certification such as CCIE, CCNP, CCNA, etc
