Design Build Proposal Manager
Yonkers Contracting Company, Inc. is seeking a Design-Build Proposal Manager to lead the proposal development process for design-build projects. This role involves analyzing RFPs, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and crafting persuasive proposals to secure new projects.
Responsibilities
Analyze complex RFPs, RFQs, and other solicitation documents to understand client requirements, evaluation criteria, and submission obligations
Develop and execute comprehensive proposal project plans, including timelines, responsibilities, and resource allocation
Lead proposal kickoff meetings and manage the entire bid lifecycle, from initial capture planning through to final submission
Facilitate "go/no-go" and "bid/no-bid" decision meetings with senior leadership
Ensure the final proposal is fully compliant with all client requirements to avoid disqualification
Assemble and lead multi-disciplinary teams, including design partners, subcontractors, estimators, and subject matter experts (SMEs)
Work collaboratively with technical experts to develop tailored content and translate complex technical information into clear, persuasive, and easy-to-read proposals
Write, edit, and proofread proposal content, including executive summaries, project descriptions, and management plans, ensuring consistency and brand compliance
Lead "color team" reviews (e.g., Red Team, Gold Team) to gather feedback and refine proposal quality
Maintain a centralized content library of boilerplate text, resumes, and project case studies to streamline future proposal efforts
Collaborate with the design team to ensure the proposed design solution is constructible, cost-effective, and aligned with the project schedule
Develop winning strategies and win themes based on an understanding of client priorities, market conditions, and competitor strengths and weaknesses
Integrate graphics and visuals, including renderings and logistics plans, to enhance the proposal's clarity and persuasiveness
Oversee the preliminary design effort to a level that supports accurate pricing and risk assessment
Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners and internal stakeholders throughout the proposal process
Manage document production, including graphics, formatting, and final printing or electronic submission
Coordinate post-submission activities, such as responding to clarifications and organizing interview presentations
Lead debrief sessions to capture lessons learned and continuously improve the proposal process and win rate
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
15+ years of experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry, with a focus on managing design-build and other alternative delivery proposals
Proficiency with proposal management software, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator), and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong technical writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
