Accountant/Bookkeeper

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is a leading not-for-profit organization providing healing, justice, and wholeness to people and communities. They are seeking an Accountant/Bookkeeper responsible for maintaining the Evolv database for billing and serving as backup to the Business Manager.

Responsibilities

Maintain Evolv database for select sites and prepare 906s for DCFS
Problem resolution for 906 issues
Generate monthly billing and addendums and assist with cash and AIR
Serve as back up for the Assistant Network Controller, billing related inquiries
Provide guidance, support, and workflow oversight for the Accountant/Bookkeepers, in conjunction with the Assistant Network Controller
Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individual in a dignified, respectful, honest and fair manner
Assist Business Manager with special reports
Work hours to be within timeframe of current program site hours or at a minimum be available
Respond to all incoming correspondence and questions in a timely manner; including but not limited to inquires received via email, telephone, text message, and fax
Ensure reasonable measures are taken to protect confidential and/or sensitive information as well as ensuring the security of all LSSI systems is maintained
Responsible for completing all required training assignments as well as complying with the related organizational, administrative, and programmatic policies
Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
Background check clearance required
Minimum of two (2) years of specialized financial training or equivalent experience required
Excellent organization, presentation and pc/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with other related software
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in accounting
Three (3) years of bookkeeping experience
