Systems Engineer I
Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America is expanding to De Soto, Kansas, where they are building the world’s largest lithium-ion battery factory. The Systems Engineer I will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems and infrastructure to support the manufacturing facility, ensuring efficiency and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement complex systems and infrastructure solutions, ensuring they are efficient, reliable, and scalable
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed systems
Integrate various hardware and software components, ensuring seamless communication and functionality across the manufacturing floor
Monitor and maintain system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups
Create and maintain detailed documentation for systems, processes, and configurations, ensuring clarity and accessibility for team members
Documents configuration changes with associated test cases and performs functional validation
Works with vendors to define optimal system configurations and hardware/networking requirements
Applies technical knowledge to develop clear and standard work instructions
Stay updated with the latest advancements in systems engineering and manufacturing technologies, continuously seeking opportunities to improve systems and processes
Work closely with production, engineering, IT, and quality assurance teams to understand their needs and deliver effective systems solutions
Collaborate with stakeholders, including business analysts and end-users, to gather and analyze business requirements. Translate these requirements into systems requirement
Implement security measures and best practices to protect sensitive data and ensure system security compliance
Ensure all systems comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements, contributing to a safe and compliant manufacturing environment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, and/or 4 years of equivalent related work experience
0-2 years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, preferably within a manufacturing environment
Technical proficiency with operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX); computer hardware and software; storage Arrays and/or SANs; datacenter hardware; and monitoring platforms
Experience with core infrastructure technologies, including virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and networking protocols/infrastructure (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
Familiarity with cloud and automation tools, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with the ability to influence others toward a common goal
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, including teamwork across functional groups, managing multiple tasks, and delivering high-quality results
Excellent oral and written communication skills required, ability to describe technical theory to technical and non-technical audience

Preferred
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
Relevant industry certifications, such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent
Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker)
Familiarity with database management systems (SQL, NoSQL)
Experience working in an Agile environment
Able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Resilient and able to work well under pressure
