Responsibilities
Manage and administer all server operating systems and their associated software
Work with the Network Engineer to manage communication and connectivity solutions, including local area networks (LAN), company website, intranet, and internet applications
Manage and ensure the integrity of host computers, multiple databases, and data transfers
Allocate, distribute, and monitor server storage space
Assess the need for system reconfigurations (minor or major) and implement changes as necessary
Perform server asset management, including maintaining inventories, technical documentation, and component specifications
Perform and verify system backups
Monitor, test, and analyze server software performance; generate statistics and reports as needed
Install, configure, and maintain printer systems, RF scanners, thermal printers, and other peripheral hardware
Provide on-call technical support as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
Technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows Server, UNIX, Linux, and Novell
Experience with backup software packages
Technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards
Strong knowledge of local area network (LAN) administration
Strong customer service orientation
Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
Knowledge of data management systems
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Ability to read, write, and interpret technical documentation and procedural manuals
Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language
Highly self-motivated and directed
Keen attention to detail
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required
Professional experience with project management
Experience with Veritas NetBackup, SUSE Linux, Solaris, OES, and Domino
