Sterling Engineering is seeking two junior-level Mechanical Engineers to design innovative automated machinery for the Medical & Life Sciences sector. The role involves designing, modeling, and developing custom automated systems in-house while collaborating with controls engineers and supporting prototyping and testing of automated machinery.

Responsibilities

Design and model custom automated equipment using SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD/DraftSight (2D)
Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate mechanical designs with automation sequences and safety systems
Perform tolerance analyses, kinematic calculations, and basic FEA simulations
Create engineering documentation, including bills of materials and fabrication drawings
Support prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of automated machinery
Stay current with industry trends and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
3+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably with machinery or automation
Proficiency in SolidWorks and 2D CAD software (AutoCAD/DraftSight)
Knowledge of GD&T, machining processes, materials, and mechanical calculations
Familiarity with pneumatic systems and schematics

Preferred

Experience with SolidWorks Simulation, SolidWorks Electrical, or FEA software
Familiarity with GAMP, ISO 9001:2015, or ERP/PDM systems
PE registration is a plus
