Mortgage Loan Assistant

Hanmi Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Assistant responsible for processing and closing mortgage loans. The role involves communicating with clients, gathering necessary information, and ensuring compliance with regulations related to mortgage lending.

Responsibilities

Process documents received for each file, verifying the accuracy and completeness of each document
Provide disclosures when necessary
Order credit reports, business entity searches, GEO codes/census tracking, and title/escrow work or any documents needed for loan processing
Order appraisals
Tracks documents including hazard insurance, flood insurance, financial statements, and escrow/title policies
Establish, maintain, and update files, databases, records
Coordination of loans with escrow companies
Gather, review, and organize mortgage loan documents
Prepare fund request documents for wiring funds to closing
Process draw requests on warehouse lines of credit
Prepares loan renewal and extension requests
Process loan cancellations/denials and adverse action letters
Responsible for the integrity of data entered into the system of record within departmental guidelines to mitigate operational risk
Responds to inquiries from customers and internal personnel regarding loans issues and requests
Follows set departmental procedures to receive satisfactory audit. Include audit considerations when assisting in the development of new tasks within functional area
Remain current on government regulations related to lending and internal policies

Required

High School Diploma and at least 2+ years of related experience and/or training; Bachelor's degree preferred
Work related experience should consist of a loan servicing background
Work related experience and/or training must consist of an in-depth background in loan documentation and servicing in mortgage lending
Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, Bank operational policies and procedures, and the Bank's products and services
Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software programs
Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position
Basic math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees
Ability to deal with problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations
Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties
