Field Service Engineer Drives/EMS

Responsibilities

Perform troubleshooting activities at customer site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions
Develop requisite documentation to execute work e.g. commissioning procedures, maintenance procedures daily logs etc
Perform installation and commissioning activities at customer site locations of GE Drives
Perform installation and commissioning activities at customer site locations of GE EMS System
Execute on site project management and technical leader duties to resolve customer issues and provide customer satisfaction
Under the direction of a senior engineer performs a wide range of technical tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of GE drive systems
Develop presentations and provides training and instruction to customers on drive operations
Coordinate additional opportunities to serve the customer with the customer service team, parts, other FSE’s, repair services, sales, and product engineering teams
Advise the customer of recommended upgrades, parts, and service opportunities to improve customer productivity and sell GE parts and services
Coordinate maintenance activities for the customer and planning for inspections
Provide support to engineering teams working on customer CMU’s projects
Identify new opportunities & development of effective offerings to improve in-service equipment reliability / availability
Promote sales of maintenance services
Provide on call support in response to customer calls for service
Ensure appropriate response and service is provided to customer
Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements
Support business growth opportunities and marketing campaigns
Other duties may be assigned by management to meet business needs

Required

Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 3 years of field service and/or commissioning experience
Must live in the USA
Ability and willingness to travel 85% of the time on short notice
Perform work on-board vessels within GE / Customer safety guidelines either in shipyards or offshore
Extended hours / overtime maybe required during peak periods and emergency circumstances
Domestic or overseas travel to customer sites for extended periods of time
The work environment at onsite locations is of a construction type setting. Whilst performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of trips, slips and falls. The noise level on-site or on-board ships can be excessive, personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required

Preferred

Ability to learn and follow defined departmental policies, procedures, and practices
Ability to prioritize workload and organize work activities in order to meet business needs and department goals
Experience on Energy Management system for Power plants
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills essential
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university (or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or minimum 5 additional years of related industry experience in drives)
Minimum of 3 years of experience with GE Drive systems {With 2 years practicable working knowledge of at least one GE Power Conversion drive system (Including: MV7000, SD7000, MV3000, MD2000, LV7000)
Experience of working with LV/MV Drives ABB, Siemens, AB, Vacon and Schneider
Minimum of 2 years practicable working knowledge of at least one GE Power Conversion drive / system controller (Including PEC, PECe, CDC)
Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment
Possess detailed knowledge, competence and expertise with installation and commissioning tasks and services
Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office applications
