They are seeking a Director of Edge Operations to oversee the reliability, performance, and daily operations of a global edge computing platform, ensuring operational excellence and guiding a skilled team.
Responsibilities
Lead twenty four hour operations for a global edge computing platform and ensure reliability, availability, and sustained performance across all markets
Build, mentor, and guide a distributed team of Site Reliability Engineers, operations specialists, and technical staff
Direct incident response and perform root cause analysis for outages or service degradations
Apply mature SRE practices including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident reviews, and continuous improvement processes
Partner with Platform Engineering and Application teams to design and deploy resilient, scalable systems at the edge
Monitor platform capacity and performance and collaborate with engineering teams to forecast and plan future operational needs
Build and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability capabilities
Lead automation efforts that eliminate repetitive tasks and reduce operational toil
Work closely with external vendors and managed service partners to ensure service level agreements are met and consistently improved
Ensure edge operations meet security standards, regulatory expectations, and global compliance requirements
Partner with Market Operations and Global Technology Operations teams to implement changes across regional environments
Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
Bachelor degree or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
Ten or more years of experience in infrastructure, on premise cloud, public cloud, or Site Reliability Engineering roles
Five or more years of direct leadership experience
Demonstrated success operating or supporting edge platforms or hybrid cloud environments
Strong knowledge of physical hardware, Kubernetes, CI and CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or New Relic
Proven ability to lead automation initiatives that reduce toil and strengthen operational maturity
Excellent communication, leadership, and cross functional collaboration skills
Experience guiding vendor teams and managed service providers
Background supporting SRE or infrastructure operations in a multinational enterprise
Strong experience with cloud infrastructure solutions including GCP and AWS
Preferred
Experience in industries with distributed footprints (retail, manufacturing, telecom, QSR)
Familiarity with multi-cloud and hybrid strategies
Understanding of compliance, sovereignty, and regulatory considerations
