Responsibilities
Service a book of business under the direct supervision of an underwriter/broker, focused on but not limited to renewals
Screen renewal applications and send out renewal letters; perform some of the underwriting and prepare quotes for underwriter approval
Evaluate, classify, and rate each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing to prepare quotes
Review new business bind requests including applications and supporting documents for acceptability and to complete the underwriting file; process policies and endorsements
Upon binding risk, post the invoice, and process technical data
Assist with new business development as needed
Process endorsement requests
Review and process notice of cancellations
Review and process cancellation requests received from retail agents
Obtain and provide loss runs to retail agents
Order and review inspections, send out recommendation or value letters
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Texas insurance license required
Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail
Interest in continued education and professional development to obtain full underwriting authority
Technologically savvy and data driven
Preferred
2+ years of Underwriting support or industry experience with excess and surplus lines is preferred
Demonstrated proficiency and previous experience in sales and marketing is preferred
