Computer Scientist
Air Force Research Laboratory is seeking a Computer Scientist to research, develop, and implement software solutions for advanced space domain awareness. Responsibilities
Researches, develops, and implements software solutions to provide advanced space domain awareness modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities, subject matter expertise, and directed energy effects assessment tools for Space Superiority
Works with Mission Delta 2 to rapidly develop prototype software solutions to fill warfighter gaps
Ensures configuration management and version control of the Branch’s software catalog for distribution to customers
Communicates with engineers to ensure models accurately meet measured data
Ability to occasionally work nights or weekends to provide software support to sister branch with nightly Space Domain Awareness testing
Qualification
Required
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance
Must have one year of experience at the DR-01 (or equivalent) grade level
Possess a bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from an accredited or pre-accredited institution
Preferred
Experience with Python, MATLAB, and C++
Advanced degree in Computer Sciences
Ability to manage workload across competing priorities and work efficiently towards timely task completion
Ability to work in a team setting
