Field Technician (Richmond, VA)

L3Harris Technologies is dedicated to recruiting high-performing talent and is looking for a Field Technician for the Company’s Field Services organization supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role involves providing field support in DC and Atlanta airspaces and requires a good working knowledge of network technologies and the ability to travel extensively to remote sites.

Responsibilities

Good working knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449
Have an excellent working knowledge of fiber, working knowledge of Multiplexes, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice and Data applications
Good working knowledge of power testing, AC and DC including 3 Phase AC. Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies
Experience with network and circuit testing with T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards
Working knowledge and usage of various network test equipment: JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Para-scope or other T1/DS3 Test sets
IP Based knowledge with experience configuring routers and switches
Experience installing equipment racks (wallmount, raised floors, concrete, etc.)
Willing to travel (up to 100% of the time) to remote sites within a 3hour drive circle of base location. Technicians may be asked to travel outside of their assigned region, as needed
Utilize ladders, and step stools, to reach heights of approx. 10 feet
Willingness and/or ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs and to respond to after-hours emergency calls as required
Travel to FAA site locations within a 3 hour drive from Richmond, VA area
Candidate must be able to obtain FAA Security Clearance from Public Trust background investigation

Required

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience
Posses and maintain a valid Driver's License, and satisfactory driving record, as conditions of initial (and continued) employment
