Passion for legal research and writing
Own books by Bryan Garner, Ross Guberman, and Matthew Butterick
Have an existing opinion on the writing styles of Justices Kagan, Roberts, Ginsburg, and Gorsuch
Consider 'appellate nerd' a compliment
Desire to develop an appellate practice while working closely with excellent trial lawyers
