Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain multiple VMware vSphere environments (ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, vSphere Client)
Manage datastores (VMFS, NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel); implement and manage software-defined storage solutions like VMware vSAN
Install, configure, and administer server operating systems, typically Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP) and Linux distributions
Apply OS-level patches and security updates; ensure servers adhere to security baselines and compliance requirements
Diagnose and resolve issues related to server performance, operating system failures, network connectivity, and application interaction within the VM
Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., PowerShell/PowerCLI for Windows/VMware, Bash/Python for Linux) to automate routine server and VM management tasks

Active DoD Secret Clearance (Minimum)
Current DoDD-8140/8570 certification (Required) One of the following: CompTIA Security+ CE, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP), System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), RHCSA Red Hat Certified System Administrator, RHCDS Red Hat Certified Data Center Specialist
One (1) or more of the following Operating System Certifications (Minimum): Linux+, RHCSA Red Hat Certified System Administrator, A functional area certification (ie. Windows, VMWare, CCNA, Network+)
5+ years of relevant experience with clouds and virtualized systems (Minimum)
Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022), including Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), and DNS services
Virtualization Management: Manage the VMWare vSphere infrastructure, including vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, and virtual machine lifecycle
Security & Hardening: Implement and maintain system security by applying DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and performing regular vulnerability assessments and remediation using tools like ACAS/Nessus
Patch Management: Oversee server patching and updates using WSUS or other enterprise patch management solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities and ensure system integrity
Automation: Utilize PowerShell scripting to automate routine administrative tasks, system deployments, and security configurations
Monitoring & Performance: Monitor server and system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high levels of availability and reliability
Collaboration: Work with cybersecurity and network teams to ensure the server infrastructure is secure, compliant, and integrated with other enterprise systems
Preferred
Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance
Experience working with the Joint Staff (JS) and COCOMs
Advanced certifications such as VMWare Certified Professional (VCP), MCSE: Core Infrastructure, or CISSP
Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation
In-depth knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies and STIG implementation
Experience with enterprise backup and storage solutions
