ELEVATOR ADMINISTRATOR
The City of New York is seeking an Elevator Administrator to oversee the Elevator Services and Repair Department. The role involves planning, directing, and supervising elevator maintenance and repair operations, as well as providing leadership and guidance to staff.

Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and supervise the operation of a major organizational segment of NYCHA’s Elevator Services and Repair Department engaged in the maintenance, installation and repair of elevators and the management of related supplies and equipment
Assist the Deputy Director or designee in organizing, administering and directing the activities of the Elevator Services and Repair Department
Assign and monitor job assignments; oversee daily operations
Conduct field visits
Provide leadership and guidance in the training of staff
Represent the Elevator Services & Repairs department at meetings and interact with other NYCHA departments and external agencies
Ensure work assignments and reports are prepared accurately and in accordance with established timeframes
Establish work priorities and schedules
Ensure staff is in compliance with NYCHA rules and regulations, standard procedures and GMs
Prepare counseling memos, local hearings and other disciplinary requirements as needed
Qualification
Required
A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, plus eight years of supervisory experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of large tenanted buildings; four years of which must have been in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees and at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative capacity
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' above. However, all candidates must have at least four years of experience in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees, at least 18 months of which must have in an administrative capacity
Preferred
Ten years of technical experience with a concentration in elevator or electro-mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance procedures
A Certificate of Approval as an Elevator Inspector issued by the Department of Buildings is preferred
Ability to plan, direct and coordinate a wide variety of tasks simultaneously
Excellent public speaking and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent supervisory and leadership skills
Excellent writing and analytical skills
Extensive background and working knowledge in the preparation, managing and conducting of training programs related to the elevator industry
