Regional Assessor / Career Navigator

Southwest Texas Junior College is seeking a Regional Assessor / Career Navigator who will play a vital role in the AEL team. This position involves conducting student assessments, facilitating orientation, and guiding career and educational planning to support student transitions and success.

Education Administration Programs

Responsibilities

Administer standardized assessments (CASAS) at designated sites and remote settings
Ensures test security, integrity, and compliance with FERPA, PII, and HIPAA
Conducts New Student Orientation (NSO) and assists with enrollment documentation
Records and submits assessment results; prints item analysis reports
Coordinates with instructional staff to support student placement and progress
Assists students in setting SMART goals and initiating ITEC Plans
Provides one-on-one academic and career advisement with regards to IETs
Conducts post-assessment surveys/interviews to evaluate interventions
Establishes rapport with SWTX departments and external partners
Expands employer and workforce connections to support student transitions
Conducts outreach/recruitment events targeting underserved populations
Promotes program services and assists with student intake and referrals
Collaborates with Alamo/Middle Rios Grande Workforce Solutions and other agencies
Maintains accurate records in TEAMS and Career Services Record (CSR) forms
Submits assessment rosters, SEFs, and documentation weekly
Tracks Career Services activities using CS codes for CDER reporting
Identifies student barriers and connects them to wrap-around services
Maintains and distributes community resource lists
Assists with IET, ITP, and Workplace Literacy initiatives
Demonstrates professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity
Collaborates with AEL staff, instructors, and administrative teams
Maintains confidentiality and adheres to security-sensitive protocols
Participates in program planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement

Experience/Training in adult education, career counseling, or workforce development
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database systems, and online platforms
Valid drivers license required
Willingness to work flexible hours and travel across service areas
Regular use of hands, arms, and vision for computer and paperwork tasks
Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds
Prolonged sitting at times
