Logistics Technician

The USPS OIG is seeking a highly qualified applicant to fill our Logistics Technician position in the Mission Support, Facilities & Physical Security Team located in Arlington, Virginia. This role involves managing supply, asset, and facility operations to ensure effective support for the agency's needs.

Responsibilities

Prepares and processes documents and reports associated with the requisition, receipt, storage, inventory, shipment, disposition, and status of general and specialized supplies and equipment used by the organization
Operates the database system to enter and retrieve supply listings
Coordinates requests for supplies and materials to assure adequate bench stock used in support of agency. Maintains stock records and records of issue and annotate stock records in accordance with agency regulations. Reviews stock on hand to assure availability of required items
Reviews and processes requests for supplies received via the Supply Help Desk. Responsible for the fulfillment of supply requests, communication with requestor to obtain clarification as needed, notice of supply availability, and fulfillment of request
Prepares requisitions for all postal equipment and supplies. Monitors and distributes mail usage throughout the agency. Serves as OIG point of contact for problem resolution regarding mail management
Conducts visits as needed to local field offices to assess supply needs using government vehicle
Assists with property management operations which includes the receipt of assets, property accountability, and processing of excess/surplus property
Assists with the implementation of facilities programs ensuring occupant comfort, such as utilization, climatization and cleanliness of workspace in existing agency facilities
Assists Facilities Logistic Analyst with resolution of non-complex facilities projects including but not limited to picture hanging, furniture repair or modification, small repair projects including painting and patching, etc
Provides first-line customer support to OIG employees requiring assistance with electronic access to OIG facilities (i.e. Temporary Access Badges, etc.)
Assists the physical security analysts with vendors as required during repair activities

Required

Education must be accredited by an institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education

Education completed outside the United States must be deemed equivalent to that gained in U.S. education programs
You must submit all necessary documents to a private U.S. credential evaluation service to interpret equivalency of your education against courses given in U.S. accredited colleges and universities
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be able to pass a drug screening
Must be able to obtain and maintain Moderate Background Investigation security clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain a government-issued credit card
May be required to successfully complete a 12-month probationary period
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to local field offices using government vehicles
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have knowledge of facilities, supply, inventory, and mail management programs, policies, and procedures
Applicants must have five years of experience in supply management and/or facilities management
Must demonstrate knowledge and ability in facilities, supply, inventory, and mail programs, including related policies and procedures
Knowledge to apply supply management principles including requisition, inventory control and disposition of supplies and equipment
Knowledge to manage a mailroom and sort incoming and outgoing mail and manage the PO box section
Knowledge to perform analysis, diagnose, identify and recommend solutions to address issues related to supply management, asset management, and facility management
Knowledge to search for and analyze information; trace sequences of transactions to resolve questions; prepare entries for record systems; provide supply information, reports, and services; and recommend actions to eliminate problems involved in delivering services to customers or in implementing policies
Ability to effectively communicate, written and verbal, with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs and complete assigned tasks
Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with leadership and cross functional stakeholders
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to create documents, charts, reports and presentations
The work requires that the employee be able to lift items weighing up to 70 pounds

Preferred

Associate or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Knowledge of OIG operations
