Alternatives Compensation Specialist
Investment Management Partners is partnering with a leading investment platform to appoint an Alternatives Compensation Specialist. This role involves designing and managing compensation frameworks for alternative investment professionals, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement compensation frameworks tailored to alternative investment teams
Partner with senior leadership to align reward structures with business objectives and fund performance
Design and manage incentive arrangements, including carry, co-investment, and deferral mechanisms
Conduct market benchmarking and trend analysis across private equity, hedge funds, and real assets
Provide data-led insights to support competitive positioning and decision-making
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and governance standards (including SEC, IRS, and ERISA)
Support audit, risk, and documentation requirements related to compensation governance
Collaborate with HR, finance, legal, and investment stakeholders on planning and execution
Manage compensation data, reporting, modelling, and annual review cycles
Improve process efficiency through technology, analytics, and controls
Qualification
Required
bachelor's degree in finance, economics, HR, or a related field
typically 5 to 10+ years of experience in compensation, finance, or investment management, with exposure to alternative investments
strong understanding of carried interest, co-investment, and incentive structures in private markets
advanced excel and compensation modelling capability, with strong analytical discipline
credible communicator, able to explain complex reward structures to senior stakeholders
develop and implement compensation frameworks tailored to alternative investment teams
partner with senior leadership to align reward structures with business objectives and fund performance

experience with market data providers such as IMP Intelligence, McLagan, Mercer, or Preqin preferred
