Responsibilities
Adheres to full implementation of program guidelines and procedures of the Extended Learning Program
Assists in developing and implementing creative arts activities for participating students
Works with individual students or small groups of students as needed
Works with parents and staff in promoting understanding of extended day program
Participates in inservice training programs as needed
Assists in selection of appropriate supplies, materials, and equipment
Assists in maintaining necessary records and files
Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective accountability
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Demonstrated knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate
Current Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate and/or criminal background clearance by Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation
Demonstrated ability or willingness to work with children of diverse ethnic, racial, cultural, educational and economic backgrounds
Demonstrated abilities in variety of basic art techniques
Verification of one (1) of the following: Two years (48 semester units) of study at an accredited college or university, Associate's or higher degree from an accredited college or university, Passage of BCSD Paraprofessional Test, CBEST
Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license
Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met
Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act
