Electrical Engineering Technician

ebm-papst is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician responsible for modifying, building, testing, and troubleshooting developmental electronics. The role involves hands-on work with motor control and communications, including assembly, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

Hand solder surface mount and thru-hole components in prototyping boards as well as production quality boards
Become familiar with the latest board assembly techniques and IC packages
Be able to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings
Be able to build cable harnesses with crimp connectors as well as soldered connectors
Use of test equipment, including:
A. Oscilloscopes
B. Spectrum analyzers
C. Logic analyzers
D. 3 phase power supplies
E. Device programmers
F. PC based serial communications interfaces
Test and troubleshoot circuitry down to the component level independently and with engineering guidance
Maintain the electrical engineering lab operations, supplies and equipment
Build test equipment for engineering tests and production
Design and build test boxes for development as well as for production testing
Be familiar with power tools including drill presses, bandsaws, belt sanders, and Dremel tools
Assemble units for integration testing
Provide electromechanical support for interdepartmental testing of motor units
Become familiar with automated test software and hardware for support and maintenance
Be familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word for data analysis and report generation
Have good time management skills for managing multiple tasks
Have good communication skills to work with a broad range of departments
Be able to lift heavy equipment and motors up to about 50lbs within OSHA limits

Required

Minimum high school diploma with training in electronics technician or electronics technology and 4 years
Hand solder surface mount and thru-hole components in prototyping boards as well as production quality boards

Be able to build cable harnesses with crimp connectors as well as soldered connectors
