Community Services Administrative Technician
NEOGOV is seeking a Community Services Administrative Technician to support the Richland Hills Community Compliance Division. The role involves performing administrative duties, coordinating activities, and providing care for shelter animals while ensuring excellent customer service and managing clerical tasks.

Responsibilities
Provides excellent customer service to employees and the public by greeting customers, answering incoming telephone calls, responding to requests; handling complaints tactfully and assisting the general public
Maintains customer log-in and completes customer transactions (licenses, adoptions, surrenders, etc.); processes payments and accurately enters transaction data into the shelter management software; pulls reports on a daily, weekly, monthly basis as required
Schedules low cost spay, neuter, and vaccination programs by confirming dates, contractual arrangements, coordinating information to the public and processing other necessary paperwork and reports associated with the programs
Performs general office and clerical duties such as maintaining files, volunteer and customer logs, maintaining data in the shelter management software, preparing reports and correspondence, processing mail, and ensuring office is equipped with necessary supplies
Attends to shelter animals by providing appropriate care including feeding, watering, exercising and grooming animals. Monitor and report signs of illness or injury of animals to supervisor
Performs shelter maintenance which includes cleaning and disinfecting kennels and cages, litter boxes, feeding utensils and equipment; launder animal bedding and towels, sweeping and mopping floors, removing trash and cleaning dog yard waste
Maintains stock and storage rooms in neat and organized manner. Stocks inventory with food, litter, cleaning supplies, etc
Assists with scheduling volunteers; provides training and monitors volunteer activities to ensure all shelter regulations are followed
Completes general clerical functions in support of code activity such as inputting data into the computer system and preparing written correspondence, memos and reports; ensures accuracy of all data entered into the code enforcement management software system
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or G.E.D
Two (2) years general administrative experience
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, Power Point and Word
Federal, State and local laws and ordinances related to shelter management
The geography of the city and surrounding area
Principles and practices of volunteer assistance programs
Principles and practices of excellent customer service
Principles and practices of general office procedures
Policies and procedures of assigned department
MS Office, databases, and shelter management software
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Plan, coordinate and execute essential job functions efficiently without constant supervision
Operate office equipment, computer equipment, and software programs, especially Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, Access)
Compose grammatically correct correspondence, reports and technical writing, newsletters, and other related documents
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff and members of the public using tact and diplomacy
Manage multiple demands upon time and schedule
Effectively use necessary computer, databases, software and office equipment
Maintain mental capacity that permits making sound judgments regarding work
Demonstrate intrinsic motivation, high ethical and moral standards
Exhibit emotional stability and courage to perform potentially bio-hazardous animal control duties under stress
Take effective actions in emergency situations
Provide responsive customer service and deal tactfully with difficult and/or irate customers maintaining a pleasant demeanor at all times
Work with and handle a variety of animals and animal dispositions
Deal with busy, loud and stressful work environment
Work in an animal environment (hair, dander, occasional odors, barking, etc.)
Work independently with minimal supervision
Have regular, reliable attendance and flexible work hours including weekends, evenings, holidays and special events
Maintain confidentiality
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive and professional image
Daily, on time attendance is required
