Industrial Mechanic IV
General Atomics (GA) is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development. They are seeking an HVAC Technician responsible for servicing, modifying, rebuilding, and repairing facility mechanical equipment including air-conditioning, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.

Responsibilities
Performs preventive maintenance on plant air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, heating, plumbing and mechanical equipment. Performs leak checks on refrigeration systems
Starts, operates and shuts down HVAC and plumbing systems. Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC and plumbing systems
Overhauls air compressors, re-circulating water pumps and sewer system transfer pumps. Calibrates, adjusts, and repairs electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls and devices
Injects chemical water treatment into open and closed re-circulating systems to maintain proper water chemistry
Prepares and submits prints, sketches, layouts, and material lists as required to facilitate repairs and/or modifications to mechanical equipment
May operate and maintain the centralized site Energy Management Control System
Participates in operating and identifying issues with Direct Digital Controls (DDC). Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
May assist facilities maintenance with in various areas including plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc
May perform building maintenance tasks as required

Qualification
Required
Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, military class C school or Military Occupation Specialty (MOS), and five or more years of progressive experience as an apprentice plumber or HVAC mechanic. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education
Must demonstrate considerable knowledge of construction industry mechanic concepts and regulations as well as plumbing and mechanical codes
Must be able to read, interpret and understand schematics and able to assist in the preparation of sketches and processes
Must have a working knowledge of and discretion in safely operating hand and power tools
Must be customer focused and possess a valid California driver's license with a good driving record verified by the DMV
Must have EPA certification in refrigerant recovery
Must have strong analytical skills to use Management Control Systems to determine current status of operating equipment and plumbing systems
Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels of employees, outside vendors and contractors
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings
Must have the ability to resolve moderately complex issues that require evaluation and interpretation
Must have strong knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to the field
Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required
Preferred
Two-year technical degree or trade school equivalent desirable
