NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD is seeking a Production Shop Planner (Marine Machinery Mechanic) to work in the Production Resources Department. Responsibilities

You will assemble the task packages needed to accomplish nuclear work
You will work the project schedule in order to obtain Task Group Instructions (TGI's), related to instructions, and drawings
You will utilize project task packaging strategy and grouping areas of work for efficient application of nuclear trade skills and nuclear material
You will determine what quality assurance and support documentation is necessary to complete the job and prepare and assemble them with the package
You will identify and assemble all nuclear job materials needed to perform a task within a work package
You will be responsible for unused or excess material and it's immediate disposition as appropriate to minimize cost to the project upon completion of work

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision
Ability to coordinate the packaging and assembly of supporting documentation and materials to meet schedules, task breakdowns, and material delivery deadlines
Ability to compile work packages that accompany the Task Group Instructions (TGI's) and Technical Work Documents (TWD's) through the duration of the task execution
Ability to determine material, equipment and special tools needed to accomplish specified work tasks
Ability to exercise judgement in identifying task package efficiencies and recommends ways to package work that will result in cost and schedule gains for the project
Ability to identify scheduling, (special tooling and equipment) conflicts to the applicable Project Team personnel for resolution
Ability to obtain certification for Radiology Qualification for Nuclear Positions
Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations
