Interior Designer
USAJOBS is seeking an Interior Designer for the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. The Interior Designer is responsible for developing and managing an interior design program to create aesthetically pleasing and therapeutic environments for patients, visitors, and staff within the health care system.

Responsibilities
Preforming and managing work related to the design of interior environments to promote employee productivity, health, and welfare, and/or the health and welfare of the public
The Interior Designer plans, specifics, writes procurements packages, supervises installation and acts as the contracting officer's representative for all furniture procurements within the facility
Interior Designer provides plans, consultation, advice specifications, and designs for virtually all spaces involved in new construction and/or renovation
Reviews Architect/Engineer submittals for compliance with VA regulations and facility design criteria
Acts as a technical representative for design and finish specifications matters
Representative for all furnishings, window treatments, patient cubicle curtains, wall coverings, floor coverings, wall art, lighting, ceiling treatments, casework, and all other interior design-related accouterments from origination to installation
Managing an interior design file system
Managing a resource library of catalogs for design-related items
Ensuring design items contribute to infection prevention, long term maintenance and sustainability goals for a healthcare environment
Participating in planning and coordinating moves
Supervising installations
Active participant of all committees that significantly impact the Interior Design program

Required
A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education
Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement
For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09
Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): Major study -- interior design or other field that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in interior design, interior architecture, or interior environmental design; or passage of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination
Specialized Experience: Experience that required the performance of work concerned with the design and alteration of interior spaces to meet functional and aesthetic needs
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization
Knowledge of interior design materials and their utility, durability and practicality for a given application in a healthcare environment
Knowledge of the physical properties of interior design materials
Knowledge to prepare floor plans and configure furniture layouts using the latest AutoCAD software, 3D modeling software such as BM, Revit, and/or Google Sketchup
Knowledge of budget processes and basic understanding of accounting methods to verify financial obligation
Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control practices related to interior healthcare environments regarding specification of proper products and maintenance, repair and construction processes
Knowledge of the fundamentals of Commercial/Institutional/Barrier Free Design
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond a Master's Degree
